Taste of the Mountains Street Festival — Sept 3, 2016

It’s September again soon so it’s time to come and enjoy another “Taste of The Mountains”, on Main Street of Madison Virginia held on September 3, 2016 from 9am to 4pm. Arts, crafts, food, pony rides, wine tasting, antique cars, magic shows, music, and more. Fun for the entire family to enjoy a taste of the country living. This is the 24th annual “TASTE OF THE MOUNTAINS” Street Festival, sponsored by the Madison Chamber of Commerce. For the third year there will be a wine tasting tent showcasing three of Madison’s Vineyards — DuCard, Early Mountain and Prince Michel. The wine tasting will cost $10 and includes a special Taste of the Mountains glass. Wine may be purchased by the glass once inside the tent.

 
This event is free and has free parking at the Madison County High School with shuttle buses that run throughout the day. There is a handicap bus as well, but there are some spaces available for handicap parking on Washington Street. The Madison Free Clinic will asking for donations for those spaces.

 

Madison is located 10 miles South of Sun Dancer Lodge and Spirit Dancer Lodge by Old Rag Mountain in the Shenandoah National Park.

 

The event has earned its reputation for uniqueness with a following of visitors that return every year. In 1999 it was named as one of the top 20 festivals in the southeastern region. This occasion started in 1992 as a heritage festival that celebrates the Mountain and Traditional cultures of the 18th & 19th century America as reflected in the customs and history of the Blue Ridge Mountains region and has continued this theme.
