MoreI just returned from a wonderful, relaxing, weekend vacation at Sun Dancer. The pictures on your website did not do justice to the gorgeous scenery views and lodge accommodations. Not only was the location perfect but the home owner, Geri, was perfect to work- so accountable and accomodating! Our group had wonderful weather the entire weekend and enjoyed exploring Old Rag Mt.,wine tasting at Sharp Rock Winery, sipping cocktails on the deck while playing board games, and meandering through the Copper Fox Distillery. A great time was had by all who attended and we all cannot wait to rent this location again.
We had a marvelous time at the Spirit Dancer Lodge. We hate to leave so soon! Enjoyed the hot tub & sauna, took a great hilke on the property, & just generally relaxed. The weather was surprisingly warm & sunny, despite predictions of snow & sleet. We’re glad the weather forecasters were wrong! While on a hike on the property, we found the settlement. Dave thinks it might actually be a civil war camp–the rock piles look a lot like battlements & look out points very well hidden from the valley & stream bed below. Thanks for allowing us to experience the peace & luxury at the Spirit Dancer Lodge. We’d love to return someday.
Yes, Sun Dancer Lodge is really as good as the pictures and the description. Fantastic views, great deck for star-gazing, quality construction, elegant furnishings, tranquil and quiet. It’s obvious the owners put their heart and soul into this property. We will be back!
Spirit Dancer Lodge is the perfect vacation house for 2 families with 4 teenagers. The kids lived downstairs when home, hooked up the PS2 to big screen. We enjoyed the hot tub & being able to seat 9 of us at the table for meals. Living space was perfect! We made a memory each day-went to Monticello, canoed & kayaked on the River, hiked the White Oak Trail & the kids slid down the waterfalls. Also visited Luray Caverns & took bike rides. We even saw a bear on the road on the way back from waterfalls! Thanks for all the comforts of home. Just wish we had more time.
Our family had a wonderful time at Spirit Dancer Lodge. The facilities are wonderful, to say the least. The kids loved the game room, naturally enough, and we all enjoyed the view from the main floor, deck and spa. The biking in the nearby area is enjoyable. We spent many mornings roaming the lightly traveled, if a bit hilly country roads. The hiking in in the nearby Shenandoah National Park is beautiful as well (particularly the White Oak Canyon / Waterfall hike). Can’t say enough really….
We spent three weeks at Sundancer Lodge with our 7 and 9 year old this past summer. It was as relaxing and comfortable as we had hoped. It was as described and pictured and the owners were very responsive and helpful. Our family had a great time swimming and fishing the various rivers, horseback riding, hiking the trails and running through the fields. The butterflies were a real treat for the kids. For anyone that enjoys a rural setting with a great view and comfortable well appointed residence – this is as about as good as it gets!
Spending the holiday with my family here at Spirit Dancer Lodge was truly a special experience! I enjoyed all the amienities but I especially liked the Native American theme throughout the lodge. You can certainly be proud of the effort you put into building this “home away from home”.
We – our 14-member extended family of four siblings, our families, and our parents – spent an absolutely wonderful week at Spirit Dancer Lodge. The Lodge is most conducive to a wide variety of activities – puzzle working ’til midnight, kids playing hide-and-go-seek, screening epics such as the Lord of the Rings, huge dinners scrumptuously prepared with a plethora of kitchen utensils, gazing up at a zillion stars and satellite spotting, sitting up until 2 a.m. recounting past joys and foibles. Plus, the Lodge itself is a ceaseless wonder – so many treasures and items to examine, all very tastefully displayed. And, of course the area offers a wide variety of activities – hiking, tubing, shopping, dreaming.
All in all, it was one of the best weeks our extended family ever had! Thanks, Geri!
Awaking in the morning to the sunrise coming over the mountains and across the valley is breathtaking. Day hours were enjoyed locally by hiking, visiting orchards, antiquing, stopping at gift stores and small art galleries, meeting locals at a winery, and great food. There was far more to do than the time allowed so we hope to return soon to this spacious, clean, creatively decorated beautiful lodge in a wholesome environment. At the end of the evening we gazed at the star filled sky and enjoyed the Milky Way which we haven’t seen in a long while. Our stay at Sun Dancer Lodge will be remembered forever!
This was the 3rd annual mountain retreat for our close group of friends and the first time we stayed at the Sun Dancer Lodge. The sunrises are amazing and the star viewing from the front deck is awesome! Every amenity you can think of is provided. We had 10 adults on the trip and plenty of room to do what you wanted without disturbing each other. We all said we could return year after year and never tire of the lodge. What a wonderful weekend with great friends!!
I cannot convey how blessed we feel to have experienced such an amazing home and vacation. So many things to do, such little time! The views from Skyline Drive – incredible. The peace and beauty all around Spirit Dancer Lodge – amazing!
This home is like staying at a 5-Star resort. Pristinely clean, beautiful native American decor, tons of games, amazing sound system/entertainment center that can be enjoyed from almost every room, amazing outdoor hot tub, sauna room, exercise room, trails and fishing pond and on and on and on! We felt so at home yet pampered beyond belief.
There are so many sights to see in the area and especially all the trails in Shenandoah National Park that feature panoramic views and many waterfalls. We even saw a very large bear and her two cubs while driving along Skyline Drive!!
We are thankful for the warm hospitality we received and the special memories that were made during our anniversary vacation at Spirit Dancer Lodge – memories that will last a lifetime. We will definitely be back!
We (a group of seven friends) had a wonderful stay at the lodge. We spent our days swimming at the White Oak Canyon falls, canoeing, and a couple of us hiked Old Rag Mountain— the top of which was so amazing to me (an icing of boulders)– I can’t believe such an incredible place is so close to home. And the house was a perfect place for us to gather — we especially enjoyed cooking, eating, and playing games together. Usually I’m an avid camper, but the lodge has won me over to a more civilized enjoyment of the outdoors– I got used to a cold beer, a dip in the hot tub, and relaxing in the great room after a day on the trail or river. We hope visits to the Spirit Dancer Lodge will become a tradition with our family and friends.
We stayed at Spirit Dancer Lodge. Our group of women enjoyed the retreat so much, we plan to go back this year. The views, home, hot tub, nearby hiking were all extraordinary. Thank you so much for providing a wonderful home for others to enjoy.
Staying at the The Lodges are a bit of magic. The calm view of the farms of the valley below is difficult to absorb at one viewing. Sun Dancer Lodge is well done from the foundation up with quailty and love. A great place for a corporate retreat for 4-7 couples.
My family rented Spirit Dancer Lodge for a family reunion. No one felt crowded, everyone was comfortable, and we couldn’t stop talking about how beautifully appointed it was! The kitchen had everything you could possibly need. Sitting on the deck under the stars was fabulous. The views — breathtaking. There’s tons of stuff to do – games and game tables, magazines, a large selection of movies, books, and Old Rag Mountain to hike. My family wants to do our next reunion there too! I would highly recommend this rental to anyone who enjoys luxury and beauty. It is beyond clean and well-maintained. All the amenities were as advertised. In short, not only would I go back again, I most certainly will!
A group of us stayed at the Sun Dancer Lodge for our annual guy’s weekend. The lodge is on a large piece of private property with a great view from the front deck. Despite the rain, the location was good for hiking trips, fishing in the on-site pond, winery tastings, and even a local BBQ. There were ten of us, and the lodge easily fit all of us with everyone getting their own bed, which was a huge plus. We had some struggles using the TV, but it is not like we went there for TV viewing anyway. The lodge was great and served us well for our weekend in the mountains.
We spent Memorial Weekend at this wonderful Spirit Dancer Lodge. The house was amazing and I must say that the pictures on the website do not do it justice. Everything in the house was very well kept. We loved the sauna, hot tub and game table. I highly recommend this to anyone who’s thinking about it. You won’t be disappointed. Thank you so much for letting us rent your house.
Fantastic, gorgeous Sun Dancer Lodge retreat. Plethora of activities to satisfy everyone. Accommodations were 5 star!
What a wonderful place! Spirit Dancer Lodge is a jewel tucked in the side of a mountain…..
We had a wonderful week at Sun Dancer Lodge!! Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful home. We made day trips for history, views, hikes & apples. The mountains & rolling hills are breathtaking. What a blessing to see God’s creation at this time of year–Blazing in color! Thanks again!
Had a wonderful break here at Spirit Dancer Lodge. Fantastic views. Very peaceful & tranquil surroundings. No bear sightings but plenty of deer & squirrels!! Very much enjoyed the facilities especially the sauna. Children enjoyed the home movie theatre (“big” children as well!!!) Just what my parents needed before returning to the UK.
Thank you for our best weekend yet in the U.S. (have been here nine months!) You gave us the opportunity to be with our lovely friends in tranquil & truly beautiful surroundings at Sun Dancer Lodge before their return to the U.K.
We stayed in Spirit Dancer Lodge over New Years. We came with our closest friends, and we had a spectacular time. We hiked, and explored the old ruins, and the old dirt road, had picnics on the hill-top (it was very mild weather), and really enjoyed the spectacular lodge. Thank you very much for providing us the opportunity to share your lodge.
What a wonderful vacation house Sun Dancer Lodge! Went to Whitehall wineries for some wine tasting. On the way home, we drove by a scenic route through Shenandoah National Park along Skyline Drive. BBQ dinner on the beautiful grill, hamburger, hotdogs, ribs, sausage, & cucumber salad.
3 couples, 2 infants, & 1 toddler. We had a GREAT time at Spirit Dancer Lodge. We really enjoyed the hike & following it with relaxation in the hot tub & sauna was just perfect! The house is beautiful! The scenery is magnificent. We thank you, Geri & Gary!!
I spent a weekend at Sun Dancer Lodge with 15 friends and we had an amazing time. The lodge is huge and the amenities were more than adequate for our group. If you don’t like spending your morning sipping coffee on a balcony that overlooks a distant and serene landscape of mountains, and if you loathe hiking through the woods in the afternoon, relaxing at dusk, and lounging by a stone fireplace in the evening, then this place isn’t for you. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the daily routine.
Wonderful long weekend celebrating my 70th birthday & retirement & brother’s 68th. He & wife came from Seattle, his daughter’s new family from Ithaca, his son’s not so new family from Arlington, our daughter’s from Boston, & ourselves from Arlington. Grand total of 16 in comfort & unseasonably perfect weather. Hikes to White Oak Canyon, Old Rag Mountain, & much of the property line. Also much use of air hockey, cornhole, & hot tub, but most time in happy jabbering & admiring of the 4 month old & 2 week old. We could not have asked for a nicer place to gather, & we all appreciated the hard work that has made the place so special. The Spirit Dancer Lodge has indeed infused the love exchanged during these last 3 days.
We are proud of the many groups that return multiple times and bring new friends for their introduction to the Shenandoah Mountains and a slower pace of life. Our isolated location with our spacious decks provide ample room for sharing time with friends and enjoyment of the scenery. Our property is adjacent to the National Park with Old Rag Mountain as a backdrop that can be climbed directly from The Lodges if desired. Come join us. We look forward to meeting you.
